As a lifelong resident of Sitka, Alaska, Greg became involved in commercial fishing at age 15 as a deckhand on a halibut and black cod long line vessel. Six years later he purchased his first commercial vessel, a 41’ wood longliner. During the next 40 years, he owned and operated an additional four vessels, participating in commercial fisheries, vessel tour and transport services, and freight and fish tendering.
In addition to commercial fishing in several fisheries, Greg worked in dock construction and repair, commercial diver and licensed vessel captain in commercial fisheries and vessel tour operations.
Greg has been conducting commercial and recreational vessel and barge surveys from San Diego to Nome since 2012. Based in Sitka, travel for surveys is primarily throughout Alaska, with occasional trips elsewhere.
